Major Upgrade for Petróleos Mexcanos
In 2008, Aqua-Guard integrated its new patented RBS-TRITON™ technology into the RBS-50 offshore skimming systems previously supplied to Petróleos Mexicanos in 2003. This upgrade increased the recovery capacity of each skimming system by over 300%.
Large Inshore/Offshore Contracts In Malaysia
Since completing the national oil spill contingency plan for Malaysia in the early 1980s, Aqua-Guard has worked closely with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). In 2006 and 2007, Aqua-Guard was awarded two large oil spill response packages for bases in Sabah and Sarawak. Aqua-Guard’s comprehensive solutions include the supply, commissioning and on-site training of PETRONAS staff at both locations.
Bringing Cubapetroleó Refinery To International Standards
In 2007, when a Cuba Petróleo refinery needed to drastically reduce the oily discharge from their oil water separator they called Aqua-Guard to find a solution. After several site visits and audits, Aqua-Guard recommended and installed an oil water separator clarifying system that consisted of several Aqua-Guard Patented RBS TRITON™ oil skimmers powered by highly specialized explosion-proof electrics. As a result, the refinery's effluent now meets international standards.
New Skimming Technology Proven in the Field
In 2007, when a major oil transport company’s pipeline ruptured in Vancouver, Canada, Burrard Clean Operations (part of Western Canada Marine Response Corp.) responded with Aqua-Guard’s new RBS-TRITON™ skimming technology. Burrard Clean was so impressed by its performance, they purchased several more Aqua-Guard skimming systems for their first response use.
Building Long-Term Partnerships In The Middle East
In 2006, Aqua-Guard and their Middle East partner, Fender & Spill Response Services of Fujairah, UAE, supplied a fully integrated turn-key oil spill response package to Dubai Ports World (DPW) for their port in Djibouti, Africa. The package included a large amount of OSR equipment, IMO level I and II training for local port staff and a long-term management and maintenance contract with DPW. This is a classic example of how Aqua-Guard and its partners provide total solutions on a global scale.
Responding To An Oilspill in Hostile Territory
In 2005, when a Petróleos de Venezuela pipeline near the Columbian border was ruptured by insurgent guerillas, oil flowed directly into a major river. Aqua-Guard’s Venezuelan-based strike team and local partners immediately mobilized into the hot zone to respond to the spill. Equipment and back-up personnel were brought in from Aqua-Guard headquarters in Vancouver, Canada. The oil spill response operation lasted for months. All Aqua-Guard staff returned home safely and without incident.
Prepared 200 Contingency Plans For The State Of Alaska
In 1999, Aqua-Guard’s founding parent company, Bennett Environmental Consultants, was hired by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation to review the oil spill contingency plans for the State of Alaska. The purpose was to assist in developing new legislation and guidelines for oil spill contingency planning and for the storage or transfer of more than 40,000 litres of oil in Alaska.
Total Reliance On Aqua-Guard Skimmers
Since 1994, with the assistance of Seacor Environmental Services Inc., Alyeska Pipeline Service Company and their Ship Escort/Response Vessel Systems division have relied on Aqua-Guard’s interchangeable brush/drum/disc skimming technology for responding to spills in Prince William Sound and along the entire length of the Alyeska pipeline (from Produe Bay to Valdez). Alyeska now has over 35 Aqua-Guard skimming systems on emergency standby.
Groundbreaking WorK With Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation
In the 1980’s, when the Egyptian General Petroleum Corp and their J/V partner companies wanted to complete their national oil spill contingency plan, establish an oil spill response training school in Alexandria and set up 3 major oil spill response bases, they came to Aqua-Guard and its founding parent company, Bennett Environmental Consultants. Aqua-Guard once again proved its value as a total solutions provider, completing all projects within five years, to great satisfaction.
